Public Use Cabin Survey

The Alaska Departments of Fish and Game (ADFG) and Natural Resources (DNR) are requesting public input on the potential development of a program to re-purpose relinquished cabins (also known as duck shacks) from the historic Personal Use Cabin Program (PUCP) in Susitna Flats State Game Refuge (SGR) to public use. The intent of this information gathering process is to understand the public’s interest and concerns for developing public access to relinquished cabins in the refuge through a program managed by a commercial or non-profit entity.

Question 4 of 11

How would you access the cabin? Select all that apply. ADFG restricts the use of aircraft and off-road vehicles in State Game Refuges to protect wildlife habitat and minimize disturbance to waterfowl. Fixed wing aircraft and off-road vehicle use requires a general permit which stipulates seasonal closures, gross vehicle weight limits, and additional environmental protections.
